Photographing India’s Food and Beverages

Knowing how tasty India’s cuisine is, working for one of the oldest and biggest Indian’s restaurant in Bali is very exciting. It involves a delicate understanding and enjoyment of both photography techniques and culinary appreciation to be able to successfully promote, yet accurately represent food and drink via a simple photo, without the aid of the senses commonly associated with food appreciation, namely, taste and smell.

Jirolu Photography has extensive experience both shooting and enhancing the looks of food and beverage for a variety of purposes, including standing menu boards and display advertisements, which require different moods and techniques.

To successfully promote restaurant food, a photograph needs to seduce the customer and look as fresh and appetizing as possible. In some cases, foods may need to be enhanced with garnishes or other items, even if the end result is slightly different to the meal usually served to a customer. This may require the use of a food stylist to help the chef to prepare the food under a photographer’s direction.
